Aurelia Figueroa

Global Head of Sustainability
Breitling
[Switzerland]

Aurelia Figueroa, who is originally from the US, first came to Switzerland to complete a graduate internship at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development following her studies of politics, philosophy, economics, international affairs and journalism in the US, Europe, and India. She has over 15 years of experience in developing and leading sustainability initiatives across the public and private sectors, international diplomacy and social entrepreneurship.

At the start of her career, Aurelia was awarded a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship, which provides promising young Americans with a one-year stipendium to work at high levels in the German public and private sectors. During this time, she worked on the German Energiewende, or energy transition, at the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action and at Siemens, cementing her interest in supporting sustainable transformation across sectors. She afterwards worked at the German Institute for Development and Sustainability, as a researcher on the transformation of economic and social systems.

Aurelia later gained experience in sustainability in the luxury sector and led the positioning of five leading Swiss watch brands to top rankings in the landmark 2018 WWF watch and jewelry sector environmental rating and industry report, in recognition of performance to date across sustainability dimensions.

In 2020, Aurelia was named the inaugural Head of Sustainability at Breitling. She looks forward to using her cross-sectoral experience in sustainability to develop an industry-leading strategy that aligns across Breitling’s sustainability pillars of Product, Planet, People, Process and Prosperity.
