Breakfast Meetings
In June 2023, 40 GITEX Impact Leaders met at an exclusive closed-door breakfast on the Champs Elysees in Paris, to exchange views on climate action and share news about their initiatives. This breakfast meeting also was the soft launch of the GITEX Impact community.
Dubai breakfast meeting
Our 2nd breakfast meeting took place in Dubai on the terrace of the Art Jameel gallery during COP28 in December 2023, where the community discussed how to align corporate strategies with the outcomes of COP28 negotiations besides also indulging in a joint art collaboration!
GITEX Impact Councils
GITEX Impact Leaders collaborated with other global thought leaders to publish 2 GITEX Impact white papers that were launched by H.E. Helal al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
Decarbonizing through regulations in finance in the UAE
The white paper provided recommendations for enhancing the UAE’s financial sector in its journey towards decarbonization. It emphasized the need for capacity building across sectors, with a focus on understanding and reporting emissions data. Government-driven training programs are vital to improve awareness of climate-related regulations. Additionally, establishing frameworks for low-carbon investments, continuous feedback loops with financial institutions, and incentivizing decarbonization efforts, including exploring a potential carbon tax, were suggested as key steps
Skills for a net-zero future in the UAE
The white paper was based on a country wide survey to highlight the importance of developing specialized skills to support the UAE’s transition to a net-zero economy. It emphasized the need for training in green technologies, renewable energy, and sustainability practices across industries. Key areas include fostering innovation in low-carbon sectors, building expertise in carbon accounting, and integrating sustainability into corporate strategies. The paper also emphasizes the role of government and private sector collaboration in creating educational frameworks and upskilling the workforce for a sustainable future.
LinkedIn Members Group
The GITEX Impact CSO Business Club LinkedIn closed group is a by-invite-only shared space for regular discussions, updates, and knowledge sharing with fellow GITEX Impact Leaders. This group has fostered ongoing conversations around emerging sustainability trends and strategies, allowing GITEX Impact Leaders to stay connected and informed, ensuring that the collaboration does not end with in-person events.
Executive Education
To support GITEX Impact Leaders in their life-long learning on climate action and sustainability, GITEX Impact Leaders received 100% scholarships on fees for pursuing the Anant Fellowship for Climate Action, an 8 month executive education program for climate change solutionaries.
