Revolutionising Identity Verification: Introducing Next Generation AI Touchless Biometrics

Author:

Identity management is a critical concern for governments and businesses around the world. Ensuring that individuals are who they claim to be is essential for everything from national security, insurance, and medical to online banking. The traditional methods of identity verification such as passwords and PINs are becoming increasingly outdated and vulnerable to cyber-attacks.

Innovations in contactless biometrics are changing the face of identity management. The tech is fast, accurate, secure and enables secure access to critical services. Whether you’re a government agency, a financial institution, or a business, join us in revolutionising how you protect and verify your critical human data!

Powerful contactless biometric technologies are changing the game when it comes to identity management. These technologies verify identity in one second, with zero contact, and demand next to nothing from users. The latest generation algorithms embedded in these technologies are powered by Artificial Intelligence, ensuring the highest level of performance, both in terms of security and speed.

We provide a suite of four offerings, consisting of:

  1. Contactless capture
  2. Biometric identification (including de-duplication)
  3. Digital ID
  4. Verification and authentication of a Digital ID holder (or any other citizen or customer of a government or a business entity that uses their technology)

In the wake of a post-COVID world, where minimising contact has become not only essential, but expected, contactless biometric identification allows for the rapid, precise identification verification, even across large databases. Digital ID issuance is a critical part of this modern identity management, allowing for the creation of digital identities that can be used across multiple platforms, making it easier for individuals to access important services seamlessly, and conversely, making the individual Digital ID available to multiple institutions.

The Cryptograph – bridging the verification gap between slow internet and verification

We recognise that not everyone has access to the latest smartphones or high-speed internet, especially across Africa, which can make traditional identity verification methods difficult or impossible. To address this, one can deploy the Cryptograph, which in W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) terms is an identity wallet which stores digital attestations and claims in a way that can be electronically read and verified. The difference is that their digital ID is purpose-built for non-ideal environments, meaning use offline and in low-bandwidth areas.

AI Facial, Fingerprint and Iris Recognition Technologies

The rise of biometric authentication has revolutionised the way we protect our personal data and secure our identities. Biometric modalities have become increasingly popular in multiple industry sectors including financial services, retailers, insurance, health care, and call centers. Among the most convenient biometric authentication methods is facial recognition.

There is unfortunately a big however: relying solely on facial recognition may not be enough for industries operating in South Africa. The Department of Home Affairs in South Africa has facial images of only 85% of the population. This means that relying solely on facial recognition for eKYC/onboarding customers would leave behind a significant portion of the population. Additionally, other factors such as lighting, ageing, posing, image quality, liveness detection, and algorithm quality, could lower the accuracy of facial recognition even further.

Our research and statistics have proven that some financial institutions have been forced to accept the fact that they may only successfully identify and onboard 50% of their customers.

Available technologies to combat this include:

State-of-the-art biometric modalities that ensure a higher accuracy rate in identifying and onboarding customers. Our technology includes fingerprint and iris recognition, which are more reliable and accurate than facial recognition alone. Fingerprint recognition has been used for years as a reliable biometric modality.

Fingerprint recognition technology is based on advanced algorithms that can detect and match fingerprints accurately, even in cases where the fingerprint is partially damaged or distorted. This technology is designed to ensure that the identification process is seamless, fast, and user-friendly. Iris recognition is another biometric modality that we offer.

Iris recognition technology is based on the latest advancements in machine learning and computer vision. It is designed to detect and match iris patterns with a high degree of accuracy. Iris recognition is considered to be the most secure biometric modality, as the iris is unique to each individual and cannot be easily replicated.

This technology ensures that the onboarding process is accurate, efficient, and secure. At Insticc Digital, we understand the importance of secure and accurate identification and onboarding of customers. Combined, these biometric modalities are designed to ensure that your customers’ personal data is protected and secured, effortlessly, flawlessly.
