Net-Zero Challenge: The supply chain opportunity
- Supply chains for the food sector, followed by the construction sector, contribute to the largest proportion of global greenhouse gas emissions amongst industry supply chains globally.
- Circularity or recycling, material & process efficiency, renewable power, renewable heat, nature-based solutions, fuel switch to low carbon sources, carbon capture, utilization and storage are 8 levers for decarbonizing the supply chain.
- Around 40% of all emissions in supply chains could be lessened with a marginal impact on product costs, where the costs for end-consumer will be up by only 1–4% at the most in the medium term.
