· 1.1 billion people face risks from lack of access to cooling that will lead to a 6% loss of annual GDP by 2050.

· Conventional cooling devices account for as much as 10% of all global greenhouse gas emissions, which is more than twice the emissions generated from aviation and maritime combined.

· Governments can act swiftly to improve the supply side through the placement of minimum energy performance standards and labeling schemes for air conditioners, promoting mass purchasing of equipment for cost reduction, new financing and business models to deliver cooling services and increase the generation of renewable energy including thermal storage solutions.
