Extra $50 billion to scale up climate action is another ‘milestone’ for UAE
The announcement of the country’s plan to invest US$50 billion to scale up climate action, made by HH Sheikh Mohamed BinZayed at the Major Economies Forum on Energy & Climate, adds to the UAE’s distinguished track record of achievements in the fight against climate change.

An extra $50 billion (AED187 billion) to scale up climate action is “yet another milestone in the UAE’s long track record spanning close to three decades,” said Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment.
She was referring to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s recent announcement at the Leaders Meeting of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate. The forum of global leaders hosted by US President Joe Biden.
Almheiri said: “Due to the future-oriented vision of its wise leadership, the UAE has joined the ranks of countries at the forefront of the fight against climate change.
“We have issued environmental protection laws and strategies and rolled out relevant initiatives. We have also adopted a proactive approach to promoting clean energy solutions as the sustainable, alternative energy sources of tomorrow.”
