Ciyong ZOU, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development at United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), has had nearly 20 years of high-level professional experience in various senior and managerial positions within governmental agencies and international organizations. At UNIDO, Mr. Zou served under different managerial capacities since 2013. He was the architect of UNIDO’s programmatic approach, the Programme for Country Partnership, and guided country/regional strategic engagements by steering the Organization’s field integration and partnership with financial institutions and business sector. Before joining UNIDO, Mr. Zou held multiple leading roles in the field of cooperation with international financial institutions and G20 economic policy coordination, including as Deputy Director General of the International Department of the Ministry of Finance of China, Alternate to the Chinese Executive Director at the World Bank, and Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Operational Focal Point for China. Mr. Zou holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Graduate School of Research Institute for Fiscal Science of the Ministry of Finance in China.
