In 2019 the available estimates of emissions from the travel & tourism sector ranged from 8%-11% of global GHG emissions.
Decarbonisation challenges across the travel & tourism industry include – a lack of technical capability to regularly measure and report emissions, particularly Scope 3 emissions; a fragmented regulatory landscape and lack of government support; insufficient regulatory incentives from the government; and dependency on local resources and infrastructure.
